Travel Tech Statement on NY Short-term Rental Bill

Below is a statement from Matt Kiessling, VP of short-term rental policy at the Travel Technology Association, on Governor Cuomo signing A8704C on short-term rental advertising:

“By imposing sky-high fines on residents advertising short-term rentals, Governor Cuomo and NY legislators are demonstrating how behind the curve they are on public policy in the technology age and how beholden they are to legacy interests. It is dismaying to see New York deny residents valuable supplemental income and travelers affordable accommodations options.   Short-term rentals are here to stay.  Lawmakers should pursue policy that encourages innovation and job creation rather than protecting the established hospitality industry.”
